Its vast collection of artifacts and hands-on activities make this the perfect place to teach kids that creating these mediums is way more extensive than just pushing a button on a remote control.

Summer 2014: Theater Preview for Families
Now that school is out, everyone has plans to get out and take their kids to see all the cultural events and institutions the city has to offer. Being at the center of the performing arts world leads many parents to utter the phrase, “Let’s go see a show.” Though sometimes, that’s easier said than done. Sure, you have your big Disney shows on Broadway, such as The Lion King, Aladdin, and Newsies, but those tickets tend to run a little high and let’s face it, the swarms of tourists in Times Square in combination with the heat can get unbearable. There are many shows and summer theater festivals that are off the beaten path that are perfect for taking families and younger audience members to, that don't cost as much as but are just as enjoyable as a Broadway show. Try one of these performances with your family this summer.
