The Week Ahead: September 1 - September 7  
Happy September! As always, Labor Day feels like the unofficial end to summer. Kids are back in school and the cool breezes of Fall have begun to tease us. Although we’re technically still in the summer period, new activities are popping up to signal the change in season. This week, we’re highlighting parades, the return of one of our favorite children’s theaters, bird watching in Central Park and lots of arts programs that you’ll have to take in before they close. Weekend Family Events - Labor Day Weekend - 2014  
This is the weekend that parents rejoice. All of the school supplies, clothing shopping, organizing, and school preparation is (finally?) completed giving us an extra long weekend to enjoy our family time and send summer off with a bang! There are plenty of events that let us do just that. The NYC Unicycle Festival rolls into Governors Island this Saturday and Sunday. The Richmond County Fair is happening the entire long weekend in Staten Island. The 22nd Annual Great North River Tugboat Race and Competition is happening as well this Sunday. There are also many cultural celebrations like Brazilian Day, and the West Indian American Day Carnival Parade.  Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, here are this weekend's picks.

The Week Ahead: August 25 - August 31  
Get ready to say goodbye to the summer. For many, the last week before Labor Day is the final chance to enjoy all the great summer activities NYC has to offer. While some students have already gone back to school, others will use this week to enjoy the last days of vacation. This week is peppered with Caribbean-themed activities, the Labor Day West Indian Day Parade, a Unicycle Festival and several exhibits and shows that will come to a close this Sunday. Weekend Family Events - August 23 and August 24  
Keep the summer going strong! This weekend features festivals galore, making outdoor summer fun memorable for the whole family. There is a Blues BBQ Festival in Manhattan featuring some of America's best blues and roots music paired with delicious BBQ. The Arthur Ashe Kids' Day Festival is back at the USTA Tennis Center in Queens and features plenty of games, prizes and tennis of course! The 9th Annual Shorebird Festival takes place at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens where you can watch, photograph and learn all about birds. And don't forget to head to Brooklyn for the 38th Annual Brighton Jubilee, where three stages of music and food collide to make one awesome day for all! Here are this weekend's picks.

Puppetmobile Brings The Show To You  
We’ve all been there. You see a listing for a great new children’s show that you want to take the kids to. You browse the listing and then your plans go out the window when see what neighborhood it’s playing in. Chances are your train ride to see a live show is going to be more than double the time of the actual performance. Have no fear. The City Parks Foundation's Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre has solved your problem. Rather than having to trek all the way to Central Park to see their newest production, they are bring the show to you. Their newest show, Little Red's Hood, is part of their annual Puppetmobile tour, which plays in parks and public spaces in all five boroughs.

The Week Ahead: August 18 - August 24  
Can you believe the amazing weather we’re having in NYC this summer? The low humidity has given families a chance to enjoy a wonderful, activity-packed summer. But guess what? It’s not over! We’ve picked out a few awesome activities to look forward to this week. Kids can get a chance to play tennis, meet Spongebob and Dora the Explorer, participate in field day sports by the river and enjoy a free outdoor circus. Weekend Family Events - August 9 and August 10  
Here ye Here ye, this weekend features celebrations of the Civil War. It's the 150th anniversary of the war and Governors Island and DiMenna Children's History Museum are both showcasing one of the most critical times in the history of our nation. So if you want to party like it's 1864 there are ways to do it this weekend. If you want to party like it's 2014 you're in luck there are plenty of parties, festivals and shows happening like the FringeJR festival, Summer Streets, The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival and much more. The Week Ahead: August 4 - August 10  
The last full month of summer is here. While the weather is still treating us with some fairly cool summer days, let’s venture outside – away from the air conditioning - and enjoy all the great activities the city has to offer. This week brings us a Dragon Boat Race festival, outdoor theater and dance, lots of live music performances and even some barefoot dancing. But that’s definitely not all. Weekend Family Events - August 2 and August 3  
The weekend is what summer is all about. Lots of music, fun and outdoor time. Summer streets are back, taking place from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, with tons of fun activities happening, or just simply stroll or bike through the car-less streets. Lehman Stages at Lehman College in the Bronx is having their Kids Rule Weekend, filled with fun for the whole family. You can also catch fish, fireflies and touch snakes.
