The Week Ahead: March 30 - April 5  
Who wants to fly a kite? I know I do. This week, we’ve highlighted a few events to encourage you to head outdoors and enjoy all that NYC has to offer. One event includes making your own kite! So, what’s on the agenda? For starters, we’ll be enjoying book-release parties, celebrating the new YA novel by “Wizard of Oz” writer, Danielle Paige. But that’s not all. Weekend Family Events - March 28 and March 29  
This is one weekend when it's ok to put all your eggs in one basket! On Saturday is the Carl Shurz Park egg hunt and the Bartow-Pell Mansion is having an egg hunt as well. The Jewish Museum and the Museum of Jewish Heritage are both having Passover family events. If you like to celebrate the great outdoors you can do so at the carousel's opening weekend at Prospect Park.  And it is also Coney Island's Luna Park's opening day on Sunday. Get hopping! The Week Ahead: March 23 - March 29  
The last bit of snow is melting and spring is most definitely here. So get ready to head back outside and enjoy all the great outdoor events in the city. This week we’re getting ready to learn about climate change, see a puppet show for the final time, enjoy 53 magnificent horses, learn about neural networks and see a few awesome theater shows that were designed just for kids. Weekend Family Events - March 21 and March 22  
Monsters, acrobats, laundromats and flowers.  Only in NYC could the weekend be filled with this many eclectic topics to explore. The Macy's Flower Show is back and having a family day on Sunday. Wave Hill is having a weekend devoted to orchids with fun arts and crafts projects relating to these beautiful flowers. The Peking Acrobats will be performing with special guests on Saturday at the Schimmel Center and Bindlestiff Cavalcade of Youth features an amazing array of young talent for viewing on Sunday at Coney Island.  Monsters are abound at the New York Public Library and a new theater experience about laundromats is taking place in Brooklyn. Interview: Lisa Loeb Takes NYC Back to Camp  
Igokids recently had the chance to speak with singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb. She is also a mother, who is bringing her musical, Camp Kappawana to NYC. Since a lot of our parents are exploring summer camp possibilities right now, we thought this interview would be especially resonant.

Camp Kappawana is loosely based on Loeb’s memories of summer camp. Using acoustic melodies from Loeb’s album, Camp Lisa, the musical brings to life the heart of storytime around a campfire. The story follows the misadventures of 12-year old Jennifer Jenkins, a young girl who is leaving home for the first time.

In this interview, Loeb discusses Camp Kappawana, her early creative influences and life as a parent.

Spring is officially here. Forget snow. It’s time to get ready for the rain. Although some of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities started this past weekend, March 17th is the official day to celebrate. Weekend Family Events - March 14 and March 15  
Matzah, Irish Soda Bread and Pi  - all yummy food to enjoy this weekend. Wait, Pi isn't spelled right...oh yes that's because we're talking about Pi Day with MoMath! They're celebrating all day at the museum and in the morning and evening at Madison Square Park. There are St. Patrick's Day parades in Brooklyn and the Bronx as well as an all day celebration at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan. After a long and snowy winter, families are slowly changing the tune of Frozen’s “Let it Snow” anthem to “Let it Melt!” We’re not just celebrating the end of snow this week. Weekend Family Events - March 7 and March 8  
This weekend you can (hopefully) dance winter away.  Breakdancing and plenty of pop n lock action is happening at the Beats, Rhymes and Breaking show at Symphony Space. Watch the beauty of ballet at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts. Or take part in Call & Response, a theatrical bomba music and dance piece in Lincoln Center.
