The Week Ahead: June 29 - July 5  
It’s time to take out the grill and get ready for another Independence Day celebration in NYC. This week, we’re going to build up to fireworks and hot dog eating contests by enjoying Cinderella and Shakespeare in the Park. But that’s not all. The New York Hall of Science has a new exhibit that playfully immerses you into the wonders of the Earth’s ecosystem. Plus, we’ll be participating in art projects, visiting Panem to say hi to the folks of District 12 and saying hello to a very confused Siamese cat. Here are our picks for the week ahead.

Weekend Family Events - June 27 and June 28  
Sing it with me now - Schools out for summer! Wait a minute, we're parents and caregivers here and that means our job to entertain and keep the kids busy will be going full force now. Good thing there are concerts, festivals and performances to keep us all happy. Luna Park in Coney Island is hosting a free concert with plenty of activities on Saturday. Central Park is having a family picnic with Mil's Trills on Saturday as well. The Puppetry Arts Festival of Brooklyn is taking place this weekend and Astoria Park is having a weekend long festival filled with rides, games and fun for all. The Week Ahead: June 22 - June 28  
Get ready for fireworks, wonderland journeys, outdoor festivals and Chewbacca. That’s right, we’re bringing the last full week of June to a close with a little Star Wars action. But, that’s not all. This week, we’re continuing our celebration of the American Ballet Theatre, enjoying the historical sites and artistic demonstrations of the River to River festival, taking a stand against bullying, reveling in high flying acrobatics and playing with LEGOs. Weekend Family Events - June 20 and June 21  
I love it when they call me Big Poppa. This weekend help celebrate Father's Day and the summer solstice - the longest day of the year -  with boating events, festivals, LEGOs, old-timey baseball, wolfs, mermaids and cans!  Basically anything a dad might be interested in, is taking place in NYC this weekend. The famous Mermaid Parade takes place in Coney Island on Saturday. The Staten Island Zoo is having a Canidae Day, the canid family of animals includes dogs, wolves and foxes. Learn all about them, and then howl with them. The New York Hall of Science is hosting Brick Fest Live, a celebration of all things LEGO. And on Sunday take dad out to the ball game - 1860's style at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Happy Father's Day to all. Here are this weekend's picks.

The Week Ahead: June 15 - June 21  
If you couldn’t tell by the NYC humidity, the summer is here. The season officially begins with the Summer Solstice on June 21. There are lots of activities to enjoy this week so we’ve highlighted a few new things to check out. This week, families can continue to celebrate the American Ballet Theatre’s 75th Anniversary, take part in a mermaid parade, enjoy the Summer Solstice with a late night concert, revel in a new Disney Pixar movie and enjoy the opera outdoors. Weekend Family Events - June 13 and June 14  
This weekend is filled with eating BBQ, drumming along the Hudson River, and partying like a flapper from the 1920's. Taking place at Madison Square Park is the weekend long Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. Also taking place all weekend long is the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. On Sunday at Inwood Hill Park is the 13th Annual Drums Along the Hudson. Rounding out the weekend are parties and festivals galore! There's the Bubble Battle in Union Square Park, The DayLife festival on the Lower East Side, The Mamas Expo in Queens and the start of SummerStage in Brooklyn. This week, we’re on an underwater adventure at AMNH, celebrating 75 years with the American Ballet Theatre, enjoying some of the finest barbeque the country has to offer and enjoying family Sundays at Citi Field. This weekend you can find your roots, enjoy outdoor art, take part in bike parade and enjoy egg creams, egg rolls and empanadas! The New York Hall of Science is hosting the first ever Global Family Reunion festival, complete with family reunion games, live musical performances and more. Governor's Island celebrates the opening weekend of Figment, the large scale collaborative artwork project that transforms the island with art experiences and mini golf! Taking place in Long Island City at the Socrates Sculpture Park is the annual bike parade. On Sunday the classic Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival is now including Empanadas. Happy June! After such a brutal winter, it’s time to make every day count. The summer is here. And we’ve got a lot of outdoor celebrating to do.
