At igokids, we have two core missions. One is to be the go-to resource for parents, families and caregivers about everything kid related. The second, is to create the most family friendly workplace environment around.

We are currently looking to build out our team, and currently have the following immediate openings. However, as we anticipate rapid growth, we will soon have need for additional talented business development, developer, marketing, sales and web design professionals.

Position Description

We are seeking some great freelance writers/bloggers/journalists in all five boroughs to write roundups and occasional reviews of local kid related places, activities, events and classes. Roundups feature 5-10 places or events focused on a single theme while reviews will cover an in-depth personal experience. Posts will vary in length but will generally average between 500-1000 words.

These positions are freelance and you will be paid per published post. You are free to work from home or out of our offices in downtown Manhattan. You must commit to at least 1-2 articles per week but are welcome to submit more. As we are a fast-growing startup, there is also an opportunity for this position to grow into a full-time position as well as an opportunity to contribute to other areas such as social media marketing and business development.


  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Basic photography skills (at least be able to take a decent picture on your iphone, etc.)
  • Be generally tech savvy (no specific blogging software is required)
  • An ability to meet deadlines
  • Being friendly, social and loving all things kids related is also a huge plus

Web Designer/Developer

Position Description

The Web designer/developer will work closely with the founder/developer to design and implement a beautiful and state-of-the-art user experience for our website and future mobile applications. As a founding member of the team, you will have significant input into not just design, but product features, functionality and marketing strategies.


  • High level of talent for designing and/or developing beautiful web applications with cutting edge web UI/UX.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles.
  • Easy to work with, great communications skills, high attention to detail, and great work ethic. This is a startup - you must be able to work fast and efficiently and be highly adaptable.
  • Interest in all things local and local search related and general social media platforms and techniques.
  • Interest, if not passion, for all things kids related.
  • Extremely strong desire to play a very key role in an exciting NYC based startup.

Helpful but not required

  • Experience with modern web development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and JQuery.
  • Traditional graphic/print design experience.
  • Experience designing mobile applications.
  • Experience designing web or mobile applications geared towards a female demographic.

Vice President of Marketing

Position Description

The VP of Marketing will report directly to the CEO as a key member of the company's executive team and will be responsible for driving website traffic and engagement, user acquisition and brand awareness amongst parents and kid related businesses through online and offline marketing initiatives and PR. The VP of Marketing will also be responsible for developing a marketing vision and strategic brand identity for igokids and for executing that vision. He or she will represent the company and articulate the company's vision in the social media and parenting community including via Twitter, Facebook, and blogs, and will oversee the design and creation of related marketing collateral. The VP of Marketing will also work closely with the CEO and future members of the engineering, product development and business development teams to provide strategic input into the planning and development of new website features and mobile applications.


  • 5-10 years marketing experience, including at least 2-3 years of digital or social media marketing experience. PR experience is also highly valued, as is experience creating and growing online communities.
  • Experience working in a start-up, technology company, or entrepreneurial environment including the creation and hands-on implementation of effective marketing campaigns with limited resources and capital.
  • Strong preference for prior experience marketing to the mom demographic and/or kid related businesses in New York City and possession of a personal network in this area. At the very least, must be highly passionate about the kid's sector.
  • Strong knowledge of, and interest in cutting edge web technology and social networking platforms. A personal social media brand on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+ or through blogging is especially valuable.
  • Must be entrepreneurial, creative and resourceful, with the ability to work autonomously, efficiently and with urgency. A true self-starter is desired. Should be hands-on, goal-oriented, proactive, and possess a can-do mentality.
  • Must be extremely outgoing, social and fun to work with and a great team player and motivator.
  • Desire to play a key role in creating something big, something fun and something useful.
  • Bachelor's degree plus MBA or equivalent marketing experience.
