Summer camp can be one of the most rewarding times in your child’s life. When choosing the perfect day camp for your child one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is when it’s time to put them on a bus and send them out of town, especially when they’re still in preschool and there are so many great options locally. For some parents, the thought of their young child riding a bus to and from a camp outside of New York City every day is a bit daunting, but for others, they can’t wait for them to have this experience.

Some day camps located outside of New York City have options for children as young as three-years-old (not a bad idea if the child starts kindergarten or first grade in the fall). Day camps go to great lengths to make the environment safe and nurturing, and the transportation to and from comfortable and properly staffed to keep parents' worrying to a minimum and the campers happy during the long trip home. They get exposed to many activities including swimming, archery, horseback riding, hiking, soccer, gymnastics, scavenger hunts, cookouts, arts and crafts, and so much more. While some camps include the fees for bus transportation in the overall enrollment package, some don’t so be sure to ask. And while you're at it, don't be afraid to ask the camp director any questions you have about their program, safety and anything else on your mind. To make it easier for all you parents, igokids has narrowed down a list of out-of-town day camps for you to consider signing your child up for.
