When it comes to children’s entertainment, two legendary brands always come to mind: Sesame Street and Disney. From Big Bird to Mickey Mouse, the characters of these two distinguished franchises are known around the world. And although they’re great to watch on TV, these characters are even better to see live.

In NYC, there are two live shows that are always a great time for kids: Disney on Ice and Sesame Street Live. In January, “Disney on Ice” skated back into Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the second time to celebrate “100 Years of Magic.” February belongs to Sesame Street.

Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music” will open at Madison Square Garden on February 13th. The story focuses on Jenny, a new music teacher who arrives at Sesame Street only to discover her instruments are missing. Of course, Elmo is there to help Jenny teach children that music can be found everywhere.

The festive musical performances extend through the duration of winter recess so that gives you plenty of time to join Elmo and friends for a live show. This includes special dance numbers with Abby Cadabby, Grover, Big Bird, Burt, Ernie, and even Oscar the Grouch. Parents can also get nostalgic when everyone sings along to “C is for Cookie” (I still remember when my high school AP History teacher had the class sing the song for bonus points).
