The Week Ahead: January 4 through January 10  
The first full week of 2016 is officially underway. It’s time to wave goodbye to Christmas trees and Holiday windows. If you haven’t stopped by Macy’s on 34th street, Saks Fifth Avenue or Lord & Taylor yet, you may well have missed out on a few truly spectacular displays. But don’t fret! There are lots of events to take part in this week in NYC. El Museo del Bario will celebrate the Three Kings with a parade on Wednesday. Also, we’ve got an appearance by one of our favorite kids bands, The Pop Ups, at Symphony Space and a boat show at the Javitz Center. Here is the week ahead. Read more
The Week Ahead: December 28 through January 3  
Happy 2016! We hope everyone had a great 2015 and enjoyed the festivities of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. We’d like to give a big thank to all of our readers who have joined us throughout the year both on and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

This may be the last week of 2015, but there are still plenty of things to do, including celebrating the New Year! This week, we’re enjoying Pedal Punk at the New Victory Theater, celebrating the holidays with a few cheerful pirates, enjoying the First Noel at the Apollo Theater, seeing the Barber of Seville one last time at the Metropolitan Opera, learning to reuse everyday material to make art and much more. The Week Ahead: December 21 through December 27  
Merry Christmas! With temperatures heading back to the high 60s, it’s hard to imagine that Christmas is already here. It may not feel like winter, but you can still take your kids to see Santa as he enjoys the warm weather before heading back to the North Pole. This week, we’ve picked out a few post-holiday-art workshops to participate in as well as holiday movie screenings. There are also a few more opportunities to see Santa in the city. The Week Ahead: December 14 through December 20  
The force is strong in this holiday season. But Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn’t the only reason to venture outdoors this week. We’ve picked out several dance, musical, theater and puppet shows to enjoy around the city. And, why not go outside? Next week is the official start of winter and the weather still feels like fall in October. This week, we’re enjoying lollipops in the morning, listening to an orchestra celebrate Charlie Brown, celebrating Christmakwanzukah and heading out to the opera. The Week Ahead: December 7 through December 13  
The holiday celebration continues this week with Sesame Street, dance shows and light festivals going on throughout the city. This week, Elmo and Abby of Sesame Street stop by the NYPL to celebrate Everyday Heroes. We’ll also enjoy a new rendition of A Christmas Carol and the return of Elf the Musical. We hope everyone is enjoying Chanukah celebrations around the city. Each night, you can also stop by Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn or Manhattan to enjoy holiday menorah lightings. The Week Ahead: November 30 - December 6  
Happy Holidays. This week is filled with holiday festivities, including several tree lightings around the city. But that’s not all. This Sunday, December 6 is also the first evening of Hanukkah. This week, we’re learning about a Young Charles Dickens at Theater 3, listening to lots of live music at tree lighting parties and enjoying the classic story of Snow White. The Week Ahead: November 23 - November 29  
Happy Thanksgiving week! The temperature might be dropping in NYC, but families in the city are gearing up for the “warmest” family season of the year. This is a great chance to use the long weekend to take in one o the many holiday activities and theater shows in NYC. Take your kids to see Clifford the Big Red Dog celebrate his 50th Anniversary or stop by the American Museum of Natural History to watch the balloons get inflated before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. You can also venture off to Narnia or take in Afro-Cuban sounds right in NYC. Here are our picks for the week ahead. Read more
The Week Ahead: November 16 - November 22  
It is that time of year again. Tree lighting ceremonies and Nutcracker shows are popping up all over the city. And, of course, we’ve got more Holiday Train adventures to see. This week, we’re heading up to the Bronx for our first tree lighting of the season and heading to Washington Heights for a new twist on the Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. We’ll also explore Alice in Wonderland through the poems and spoken word of contemporary artists at the NY Public Library and listen to the sounds of Duke Ellington at Symphony Space. The Week Ahead: November 9 - November 15  
Trains! Trains! And more, Trains! As the sweet smell of gingerbread begins to mix with the latent smell of pumpkin spice, the holiday season steamrolls forward with the return of some annual favorites. This week, we’ve got three holiday train shows opening up in NYC. But that’s not all. We’re also celebrating Veteran’s Day this week. It’s time to take a moment and remember the sacrifices of all of those who have served their country. What else is on deck for the week? How about a vivacious dance show from Havana, Cuba?! We’ll be checking out Afro-Cuban fusion dance and music at the New Victory Theater, while getting ready for this year’s Radio City Holiday Spectacular. Here is the week ahead. Read more
The Week Ahead: November 2 - November 8  
As we wave goodbye to Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, the holiday season starts to move into full swing. It won’t be long before we’re knee deep in Nutcracker performances and holiday train shows. But for now, we can enjoy a few more pre-holiday activities. This week, we’re checking out a Master Puppeteer at Symphony Space, watching Charlie Brown and Snoopy at the movies, enjoying Spanish melodies at BAM and learning about the famous composer Franz Schubert through a whimsical musical. We’ll also celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Fantasia, take a journey inside the secret world of the human body at AMNH and create a stop motion video at the New York Hall of Science.
